In Focus Ministries, Inc. was chartered in the State of Georgia on April 29, 1985, as a non-profit Evangelistic Association.  The purpose was to conduct evangelical, ministerial and church services and functions related to Christian ministry.  The first meeting of In Focus was held on May 9, 1985, in the home of Dr. and Mrs. M. Lynn Reddick with seventy people present.  After meeting the following week in a larger house, the Thursday night bible seminars were moved to the local YMCA.  Weekly Bible seminars continued there throughout the summer.  On Sunday, August 11, 1985, the group moved to the auditorium of Westside High School, 1002 Stelling Road, Augusta Georgia with 100 people attending.

On Easter Sunday, March 30, 1986, the In Focus group chartered In Focus Baptist Church with 185 members.  At that point, In Focus was a Spirit-filled Southern Baptist Church called to carry out the ministry of Jesus Christ today through the power of the Holy Spirit.  The early church described in the Book of Acts met in the Temple and in houses for worship and fellowship (Acts 2:46).  In Focus members were organized into home fellowship groups that met weekly.  These groups are now called Life Groups.  Life Groups meet in various locations in the CSRA and each one is directed by a Life Group Leader.  The primary purpose of Life Groups is evangelism of the community and pastoral care of group members.  To accomplish this, Life Groups meet for Bible study, sharing, praying, and ministering to one another.

In 2002, In Focus Church leadership followed God’s call to leave the Southern Baptist Convention and partner with Morning Star International.  For nearly twenty years, the founders of Morning Star International have worked in partnership to impact the world for Jesus Christ.   In 1994, long-time friends Rice Broocks, Phil Bonasso, and Steve Murrell heard the call of God to establish Morning Star International, a worldwide family of churches that seeks to honor God and advance His Kingdom. The mission of church planting, campus ministry, and world missions has produced a ministry with churches in over thirty nations, and a vision to reach “Every Nation in Our Generation.”
